Contract Manager

Job Introduction

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) is seeking to appoint a Contract Manager, to join the Commercial team. Your key responsibilities in this role will be to ensure a strong focus on delivering the priorities of the Metro Mayor by providing effective post-award contract management across a portfolio of strategic and high-value contracts.

This is your opportunity to play a hands-on role in ensuring public contracts deliver value for money, agreed outcomes, and social value, while operating within a robust public-sector governance framework.

We’re looking for an experienced contract management professional with strong public-sector knowledge, who is confident managing complex supplier relationships, providing commercial challenge, and driving continuous improvement.


Why this role matters

This role will be pivotal in:

  • Supporting the delivery of strategic and complex contracts across infrastructure, transport, and professional services, ensuring suppliers perform in line with contractual requirements.

  • Developing and embedding effective contract management practices, including performance frameworks, risk management, change control, and supplier review mechanisms.

  • Ensuring contracts are managed in line with governance and regulatory requirements, including Contract Standing Orders and procurement legislation.

  • Completing robust performance and risk reporting, contributing to assurance for the Corporate Leadership Team, Commercial Board, and Committees.

  • Providing professional commercial advice and challenge to contract owners, budget holders, and project teams, helping to resolve issues and improve outcomes.

The West of England is an amazing part of the world to live and work. We are based in a new bright and airy office, with all the latest technology, close to Bristol Temple Meads Train Station. 

The salary for this role is £52,413 - £55,722. This is the full-time equivalent salary, and will be pro-rata for part-time. We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments for external candidates typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. This approach allows for potential year-on-year salary increases, offering progression and appropriate rewards to employees.
