Introduction to the role

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is looking for a Communications and Marketing Lead (Creative) to join our Communications and Marketing team, with a specialist focus on the Creative Places Growth Fund and future creative and cultural programmes.

This is a high-profile programme supporting the West of England’s creative and cultural economy – helping businesses grow, creating jobs and investing in creative spaces, talent and innovation.

We’re looking for a strategic and creative communications and marketing professional who can bring complex programmes to life, build strong relationships and create campaigns that demonstrate the impact of investment.

You’ll play a key role in:

  • Developing compelling campaigns and narratives
  • Building relationships with partners, creative organisations and communities
  • Supporting engagement on major creative and cultural projects
  • Developing the Greenlight West fund look and feel
  • Advising senior leaders on communications opportunities, risks and reputation

What you’ll be doing

Are you someone who can develop engaging campaigns, build consensus and turn complex information into clear, compelling communications?

You’ll lead communications and marketing for the Greenlight West Fund, working closely with the Creative and Cultural Economy service, local authorities, industry partners and communities.

You’ll develop campaigns, manage external agencies and lead consultation and engagement activity, helping to tell the story of how investment is strengthening the region’s creative economy.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced communications and marketing professional with a strong track record of delivering campaigns and engagement activity across complex programmes and partnerships.

We’re particularly interested in people with experience of:

  • Developing and delivering communications, marketing and engagement campaigns
  • Working with a wide range of stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Communicating complex information to different audiences
  • Delivering consultation or community engagement
  • Managing projects, contracts and external agencies
  • Working in a public sector or politically sensitive environment

Knowledge or experience of the creative and cultural sector would be particularly valuable.

Why choose us?

You’ll join a collaborative Communications and Marketing team working across some of the West of England’s biggest priorities.

This is an opportunity to play a central role in communicating investment in the region’s creative and cultural economy, working with organisations and communities to help shape its future.
