Head of Human Resources and Organisational Development

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

We are looking for a proactive, dedicated individual to join the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority as Head of Human Resources and Organisational Development. Reporting to the Director of People and Assets and leading a growing team of talented People professionals, you will act as a key member of the Authority’s wider leadership, ensuring that our people are at the heart of everything we do.

It is an exciting time to join us – we agreed our HR strategy earlier this year, aligned to our Mayoral priorities, and we are already working through implementing our promises around learning and organisational development, culture, inclusion and engagement, resourcing, and wellbeing – but there’s still so much more to do, and that’s where you come in.

You’ll be a proven senior people professional, confident in advising and guiding senior leaders to create an enabling culture that supports delivery. You’ll have experience of working in a complex, ideally political environment, leading and supporting teams and knowing how to get the best out of people. You’ll combine your strategic change management and leadership skills with an ability to see beyond the here and now, working across the Authority to plan our workforce of the future. You’ll be a Chartered Member of the CIPD, with a focus on the continuous professional development of yourself and others, and your confidence in applying best employment practice will be key to your success.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! If you have any questions or if you would like to arrange an informal chat with the Director of People and Assets, please contact resourcing@westofengland-ca.gov.uk to find some time to speak.

The interviews will be taking place week commencing 5th or 12th February 2024.
