Head of Major Projects

Job Introduction

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is seeking to appoint a Head of Major Projects, to join the thriving Capital Delivery team. Your key responsibilities in this role would be to ensure a focus on delivering the priorities of the Metro Mayor by:

  • Directing the delivery of sustainable transport projects and programmes across the region.
  • Developing strong meaningful stakeholder relations across the region enabling agreement of scope as well as timely and cost-efficient delivery.
  • Being accountable for programme and project reporting, milestone adherence, financial control and value for money.
  • Completing projects and programmes to cost and time achieving the benefits for the residents of our region including delivering value for money.
  • Providing direction in and taking accountability for, risk, issues and dependency management aligned to robust governance and assurance.
  • Collaborating with the regions Unitary Authority and other delivery partners to ensure timely resolution of issues and delivery of projects.
  • Leading relations with the regions suppliers providing best in class performance and commercial awareness.
  • Being a leader of people, with strong communication skills, and a clear vision working towards a common purpose

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with our Unitary Authority partners to foster a commercially focused, inclusive service provision.

As a team we are committed to ensuring we deliver for the communities in our region.  The role is a senior position and significant experience of managing infrastructure projects is essential.

The West of England is an amazing part of the world to live and work. We are based in a new bright and airy office, with all the latest technology, close to Bristol Temple Meads Train Station. 

The salary for this role is £79, 262 - £86, 642. This is the full-time equivalent salary, and will be pro-rata for part-time. We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments for external candidates typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. This approach allows for potential year-on-year salary increases, offering progression and appropriate rewards to employees.
