Low Carbon Technical Advisor

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is seeking to appoint a Low Carbon Technical Advisor to join the Low Carbon Business Support team.

You will be a key player in leading our response to tackle the climate and ecological emergency. We are delivering on the West of England’s Climate and Ecological Strategy and Action Plan and making the West of England the bee and pollinator capital of the U.K. as we push to reach our very ambitious net zero targets by 2030. Come and help shape the future of the West of England, a place so many people are proud to call home.

As a business-facing Technical Advisor, you will carry out essential work to support the delivery of our Low Carbon Business Support programmes. If you are qualified and experienced in providing energy/carbon surveys based on BS EN 16247 standards and have experience in delivering robust and practical decarbonisation advice to businesses, this role could be for you.

The Low Carbon Business Support team, part of Regional Low Carbon Delivery and funded by the Recovery Fund and Green Recovery Fund, provides grants and advice to small and medium businesses in the region to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and install renewable energy. The two major programmes, Carbon Surveys and Green Business Grants, have supported almost 500 businesses to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs since 2019.

Our Technical Advisors support businesses by carrying out energy/carbon surveys.  This means providing advice and guidance on the opportunities available to businesses to decarbonise and set them on the path to net-zero carbon. Our aim is for this work to lead to the implementation of projects, often supported by our grants, that will be beneficial to businesses, in terms of cost savings as well as a reduced carbon footprint.  The Technical Advisors will also support the grant process with technical validation checks on applications and claims.

Please see the Technical Advisor job description for full details. Appointment to this role is on a fixed term basis with an end date of March 2025. If you would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact resourcing@westofengland-ca.gov.uk . The hiring manager for this role is Matt Landick.
