Marketing & Communications Assistants (Two Roles Available)

Grade 6 | Marketing & Communications

We are recruiting two Marketing & Communications Assistants to join our Marketing and Communications service.
While both posts sit at the same grade and work closely together, they are two distinct roles with different areas of focus.

This single recruitment campaign is intended to attract candidates who may be suitable for either role. Applicants will be able to indicate which role they are applying for.


The roles


Role 1: Marketing & Communications Assistant

Reporting to the Marketing Manager

This role has a broad marketing focus and will support the planning and delivery of campaigns and projects across the organisation. You will help create marketing materials, brief agencies, manage assets, and provide essential administrative support to ensure campaigns run smoothly.

This role is well suited to someone who is organised, creative, and enjoys coordinating activity behind the scenes as well as contributing ideas.


Role 2: Communications & Marketing Assistant (Digital)

Reporting to the Digital Content Manager

This role is more digital-first, with a focus on website content, email newsletters, social media, and online communications. You will support content creation and editing, manage updates to digital channels, and help ensure content is accessible, audience-focused, and up to date.

This role suits someone with a strong interest in digital communications, content design, and writing for online audiences.

  • Support the creation of marketing and communications materials

  • Provide administrative and organisational support to keep activity running smoothly

  • Require good attention to detail, strong organisation skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Involve working in a public sector environment where clarity, accessibility, and sensitivity matter

About you

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, organised, and keen to build a career in marketing and communications.

You will have:

  • Some experience or education in marketing, communications, or a related field

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • The ability to work collaboratively and manage your workload effectively

  • Confidence working with colleagues, suppliers, or external agencies

For the digital role, you will also bring:

  • Good copywriting and editing skills

  • Some experience of websites, social media, or email communications

  • An understanding of accessible, audience-focused content

Experience working in a public sector or complex organisational environment is desirable for both roles.

The West of England is an amazing part of the world to live and work. We are based in a new bright and airy office, with all the latest technology, close to Bristol Temple Meads Train Station. 

The salary for this role is £31, 537 - £33, 699. This is the full-time equivalent salary, and will be pro-rata for part-time. We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments for external candidates typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. This approach allows for potential year-on-year salary increases, offering progression and appropriate rewards to employees.
