Job Introduction
Metro Mayor’s Research and Briefings Officer
In the West of England, we’re delivering unprecedented change and big improvements in transport, skills and housing. Metro Mayor Dan Norris is leading the West of England Combined Authority to make our region the best place to live, work and do business.
Could you be the person who makes sure he has relevant, accurate and concise briefings at his fingertips?
We’re looking for someone who’s people-focused, energetic and nimble in their approach. Someone who can see the world from many perspectives and is keen to understand what matters to the people we live and work with.
From visits and engagement events, to media appearances and policy considerations, your insightful and well researched briefs will help inform the Mayor in his day to day business.
You’re a great writer, with a knack for clear plain English. You’ve got a comfortable grip on policy-speak, politics and wider public affairs. And crucially, you understand the importance of context and nuance.
You know how to get that all-important detail and you always present it within the bigger picture. And of course, you’re never afraid of seeking out opinions from stakeholders and the public.
Like the Mayor and his team here, your passion is to deliver for local people, and help us – and him – put the West of England very firmly on the map.
Needless to say, we’re looking for smart-thinkers, but we know that smart-thinking comes in a range of shapes and sizes.
This is a hugely exciting job, with exciting people in an exciting place. We’re looking forward to reading your application.
Interviews are being held on 24th October, followed by a meeting with our Metro Mayor, Dan Norris, on 30th October.
Fixed term: until 30 April 2025 (the duration of the Mayoral term)
