Job Introduction

The West of England Combined Authority’s Strategic Innovation Team drive cross-sectoral innovation across the West of England region, supporting clean and inclusive economic growth and making a real change to the lives of the residents in our region. We work with our colleagues across the Combined Authority and its constituent Local Authorities, and with the region’s diverse and exciting innovation ecosystem, including its universities, and businesses and organisations of all sizes.

We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced colleague to work within our friendly and ambitious team.

You don’t need to be an innovation specialist (yet) – it’s your sustained focus on the impact of your work, and your curiosity regarding innovation, that will really set you apart. You will be a confident communicator, with the ability to get the team’s message across to a diverse audience. You will be passionate about researching and analysing the facts that underpin the team’s decision making, and will support funding opportunities and strategic project delivery.

The West of England Combined Authority is seeking to appoint a Senior Innovation Officer, to join the Strategic Innovation team.

This is an exciting time to join the West of England Combined Authority. In the last year nearly three quarters of a billion pounds of new investment has been secured for the region. New plans are in place to deliver on Mayoral priorities to improve transport, skills and housing for our residents, take decisive action to tackle the climate emergency, and to support communities facing the cost-of-living crisis. There is a relentless focus on delivery to put the West of England on the map for regional, national and global success.

Led by the regional Metro Mayor, the West of England Combined Authority brings together three local councils, the Local Enterprise Partnership and works with communities, other public services, and industry to deliver for the region.
