Job Introduction
The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is looking for a Senior Innovation Officer, to join the Strategic Innovation team.
Following the publication of our Plan for Innovation, we are looking for someone who can help us deliver our strategic, mission-led approach to cross sectoral innovation, supporting clean and inclusive economic growth through:
- Horizon scanning for policy developments, funding opportunities, and initiatives that align to the Mayoral Combined Authority Plan for Innovation
- Coordinating our engagement with universities and business to build the components of the regional innovation ecosystem
- Producing reports and briefings that support the organisation's work to develop innovation-active sectors
- Working with internal teams, universities and businesses to support bids for large scale collaborative research and innovation funding
- Engaging externally to cocreate packages of innovation activity, including with national funders
You’ll need to be able to quickly digest complex information about innovative sectors and apply them to Combined Authority delivery challenges, working with experts to help us start to answer questions like –
- How will the new AI Supercomputer impact the regional economy?
- What skills should our colleges and universities focus on so we can meet the demands of Floating Offshore Wind energy generation in the Celtic Sea?
- What kind of metrics should we use to measure the value of nature and biodiversity?
