Senior Transport Officer

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

The West of England Combined Authority is recruiting on behalf of the Western Gateway sub-National Transport Body (STB) to work on the Strategic Transport Programme for the area.  As the Combined Authority is the secretariat for the Western Gateway we are the employing body.  The successful candidate will work with officers across the South West region to develop and deliver the strategic transport programme.

Led by our Board, the Western Gateway sub-National Transport Body brings together nine councils, the Local Enterprise Partnership and works with communities, other public services, and industry to deliver for the region.

The Western Gateway STB crosses boundaries and works collaboratively with the Department for Transport, Network Rail and National Highways, amongst other key partners.  To date we have successfully helped the region prioritise our Major Road Network bids, delivered Freight, Rural and Rail Strategies for the wider region.  These alongside Local Transport Plans, tying these together into an integrated and strategic view of the wider region’s needs.  Our current work is focusing on bringing our strategies to life, supporting our members to build effective evidence bases for strategic interventions and supporting early business case development work in freight, rural mobility, EV charging and Alternative Fuel for Freight, amongst many other exciting transport projects.  We have some excellent projects we need Transport Officers to develop and deliver on behalf of our Western Gateway STB Board.  This is a unique opportunity to work with officers across England to grow and develop your skills and network.  Check out our website for information on our latest programmes https://westerngatewaystb.org.uk/.
