Transport Officer Western Gateway STB

Job Introduction

The West of England Combined Authority, acting as the employer, is on behalf of the Western Gateway Sub-national Transport Body (STB) seeking to appoint a Transport Officer.  The Western Gateway Sub-national Transport Body is formed by an alliance of eight Local Authorities and one Combined Authority that have committed to work together to drive innovation, facilitate the transition to a decarbonised transport system, maximise economic growth and improve industrial productivity by strengthening travel connections to local, national, and international markets.

The role of the Western Gateway STB is to set the Strategic Transport Plan for the region, provide leadership on strategic transport matters and present our collective priorities for greater investment in transport in the Gateway area to government, by providing a single, unified voice for the region. This will be underpinned by the production of a regional evidence base that informs our long-term Strategic Transport Plan.

To help us achieve this we need a Transport Officer.  The post will be active in in preparing, implementing and monitoring the Strategic Transport Plan and the associated transport related strategies for the Western Gateway region.  The post will be expected to lead work packages and ensure key stakeholders are engaged and consulted.  Key to the post’s work will be acquiring, analysing and presenting transport related data and evidence to support our decision making.  You will work closely with the wider Programme Team, our local authorities, the Department for Transport and key stakeholders.

 This is a fixed term position for 12 months as it is funding dependent.

The salary for this role is £37, 035 - £40, 476. This is the full-time equivalent salary, and will be pro-rata for part-time. We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments for external candidates typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. This approach allows for potential year-on-year salary increases, offering progression and appropriate rewards to employees.
