Job Introduction

West of England Combined Authority is delivering a major £8m initiative to support SMEs with reviewing, planning and reskilling their workforce.  The programme is delivered in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders from across the West of England region including local authorities, universities, colleges and training providers as well as not for profit organisations and those within the voluntary and charity sectors, as well as our colleagues within the Business and Skills Directorate.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Project Officer to join the team and manage relationships of both our stakeholders and SMEs.  Engaging with businesses from across the West of England region you will advise them on the support options available from our stakeholder partnership and ensure that they receive quality support.  Acting as the key link between businesses, the rest of the Workforce for the Future team, the Growth Hub and our stakeholder partners you will be fundamental to the programme’s success.  

You will therefore need to have excellent interpersonal, time management and organisational skills and be a team player as well as being able to work independently.  You will also have an interest in ensuring the highest quality customer support and knowledge of the business and skills landscape within the West of England.

This is a fixed term contract until December 2023.

The West of England Combined Authority is seeking to appoint a Workforce for the Future Lead Project Officer to join the Enterprise, Inward Investment & Trade Team. 

This is an exciting time to join the West of England Combined Authority. In the last year nearly three quarters of a billion pounds of new investment has been secured for the region. New plans are in place to deliver on Mayoral priorities to improve transport, skills and housing for our residents, take decisive action to tackle the climate emergency, and to support communities facing the cost-of-living crisis. There is a relentless focus on delivery to put the West of England on the map for regional, national and global success.

Led by the regional Metro Mayor, the West of England Combined Authority brings together three local councils, the Local Enterprise Partnership and works with communities, other public services, and industry to deliver for the region.
